Bobby helps leaders and organizations grow cultures of care and connection - and discover new insights and fresh vitality along the way. He has two, not-so-secret ingredients to all of his work: listening well and telling stories.

Bobby grew up in Ohio, which some call a flyover state. The state’s motto is “Ohio, the Heart of it All.” Bobby is fine with both descriptions because he likes paying attention to things that get overlooked - and he believes that it is usually among those things that the heart of the matter is discovered.

In grade school, Bobby was a good trumpet player because he played all the notes on the page exactly as they appeared. His college Jazz Band Director challenged him to play from the heart and try some improv. Ever since he’s been working on that in all facets of life - and helping others do likewise.

During most of his adult years, Bobby was a pastor, which means he got used to people asking him about end times, ethics, what pastors do on the other six days. It also means he has learned the singular key to finding genuine connection with a wide diversity of people, and it has everything to do with really good listening. As with the improv, he’s still practicing - and helping others with it.

Bobby has a BA in History and a Doctor of Ministry with a focus in Leadership and Transformation. Taken together, Bobby has learned that history is full of good leaders and good change and bad leaders and bad change. Bobby is working on being a good one who helps others lead good change; ironically, he has learned that not-good-things like flops, failure, and facing fear are some of the necessary ingredients for the best leaders to find success.

Today, he and his family live in Georgetown, TX, just north of Austin. If Bobby is not speaking, coaching, or writing, he enjoys hiking, biking, and attempting to keep up with his boys’ infinite amount of energy.
